CHICAGO – While many Hip Hop fans and most Americans may be unfamiliar with the United Kingdom’s brand new Prime Minister, David Cameron, Grammy Award winner Rhymefest can trace his history with the Conservative British leader back to a controversial 2006 meeting in London.

After Cameron complained that rap music “encourages people to carry guns and knives,” Rhymefest wrote to the English politician. From there, Cameron arranged to hear Rhymefest’s point of view over a cup of tea at the Commons.

Despite the Labour Party’s Stephen Pound labeling the meeting “a step too far” in striving to gain the youth vote, David Cameron expressed that meeting with Rhymefest was “very positive.” The two agreed about the existence of violence in rap, while disagreeing on some of the motives behind the lyrics. Overall, the sit-down was productive, as Rhymefest described “discussion is revolution. Discussion is what will solve the problems of poverty and violence.”

Rhymefest hopes to continue the discussion with David Cameron as he takes his new position as the U.K.’s newly appointed Prime Minister. With Rhymefest’s sophomore album, El Che, seeing a June 8th release date, the Chicago emcee plans to send Cameron a copy of the 16 track effort to listen to in his office.

Though Cameron has suddenly inherited great responsibilities, Rhymefest is confident that the two shall meet again to discuss Hip Hop over tea.

British singer LEONA LEWIS . . . a former “X-Factor” winner you may know from her hit, “Bleeding Love” . . . was attacked during an autograph signing yesterday.

Leona was signing copies of her new autobiography, “Dreams”, at a bookstore in London. About an hour and a half into it, a man in line assaulted her.

Some reports say he slapped her . . . some say he “punched her in the head” . . . and others say he slapped AND punched her.

One person who was also in line told reporters, quote, “[The man] walked up there with the book, she signed it and, as she looked up, he just punched her. She was running out with her hand over her eye . . . and I just saw a man on the floor.”

The attacker . . . who has only been described as a 29-year-old male . . . was immediately taken down by Leona’s security team. He was later arrested on “suspicion of assault.” As of last night, he was still in custody.

No one seems to have any idea WHY this happened. According to witnesses, the man didn’t say anything before hitting her.

Fortunately, Leona is fine. She did go to the hospital, but only “as a precaution.”

In a statement, her rep said, quote, “Leona was the victim of an unprovoked attack. The police were called immediately and medical attention has been sought. Leona is understandably shaken and apologizes to the fans she was unable to meet.”

So on Trevor Nelson’s BBC Radio show in UK Jay responded to Nelson’s suggestion that Kanye wouldn’t have pulled his VMA stunt on 50 as he did Taylor Swift by saying at the 1:23:47 mark,

“I think he would have done it if it was 50 Cent. No ones scared of 50 Cent….I just want everyone to know no one’s scaed of 50 Cent.”

Now of course Ye wouldn’t have done it if it were Gary Coleman but that’s besides the point, the point is 50 got what he wanted after jabbing at Hov on “Flight 187″ and will gladly use this to create some type of “beef” to promote the steamless and still no release date BISD lp.

Tim Westwood unleashed the full interview on his show on Saturday

NE-YO broke down in tears during a show in Manchester, England last Thursday night just before he abruptly ended his show and walked offstage.

Ne-Yo was sick and was trying to perform through it. At one point, he even walked off the stage to take a 10-minute break. But ultimately, about an hour into his show, he decided he couldn’t make it any further, and bailed on the gig.

While visibly crying, he told the crowd, quote, “I’ve never not completed a show I’ve never done this before. I want to thank y’all for bearing with me as long as y’all did. I appreciate that. Trust me when I say I will be back. I love you all.”

In a post on his official website, Ne-Yo explained, quote, “Basically, I have an issue with not knowing when to say enough is enough, so last night my body said it for me.

“For the last 5 days I’ve been dealing with a sinus infection. I paid it no real mind, and kept on going, like I always do. My voice couldn’t take it. From the first song I knew something was wrong.”

Once word of this began making the rounds online, a lot of people started making fun of him for crying onstage. And Ne-Yo isn’t happy about that.

He added, quote, “When I had to walk out and tell 12,000 of the people responsible for making me who I am that I could not perform for them, it literally broke my heart. I cried harder than I have in a very long time with no shame whatsoever.

“To anyone out there that would like to question my manhood because of this I’ll say this to you: If the one thing you cared about more than anything else in the world was threatened or even taken from you

“if you knew that the people you cared for the most you had to disappoint and it was your fault and this didn’t spark some kind of emotional outbreak within you then with no shame I’ll say you are truly a stronger man than I.

“Thanks to the fans for the love and concern, and to the bloggers . . . go to hell.”
