ANTHONY HOPKINS’ new horror film “The Rite”  (which I heard sucked) came in #1 at the box office with $15 million.  JASON STATHAM’S “The Mechanic” earned $11.5 million to open in 3rd place.  Here are the Top 10 movies . . .

“Tangled” earned $69 million over the long holiday weekend.  That’s the second-best Thanksgiving opening of all time . . . (–Behind the $80 million opening of “Toy Story 2″.) . . . but it wasn’t enough to knock Harry Potter from the top of the box office.

–“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” made another $76 million over the 5-day Thanksgiving weekend, to beat “Tangled” by about $7 million.

Part One of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” had a huge opening day, one of the best opening weekends of all time, AND the best weekend of any other movie in the “Harry Potter” series.

–“The Deathly Hallows” earned a total of $125 million in its first weekend and got nearly half of that on its first day.  It pulled in $61.2 million on Friday alone, which was enough to give it the Fifth Biggest Opening Day of All Time.  In terms of opening weekends, it’s sixth on the all time list.  Here are the Top 10 movies in theaters this weekend . . .

Anyways, it is the new #1 movie in America.  It made $23 million this weekend, which is more than twice what the vampire flick “Let Me In” and Renee Zellweger’s horror movie “Case 39″ made . . . combined.

ANGELINA JOLIE may get her franchise after all.  Her new spy movie, “Salt”, made $36.5 million over the weekend.  That’s not an incredibly strong opening, but it’s still better than the $27 million “The Bourne Identity” opened with in 2002. BTW: Salt was a good ass movie

People had mixed reviews on the new Nightmare on Elm Street remake. (I liked it) The key to enjoying remakes is to LET GO OF THE ORIGINAL! It’s a new movie, a spin on a old classic. Some people hold on to the past too tight. With this new movie you get more back story on Freddy and the kills were way more superior than the original. With that being said, “Nightmare” is the new #1 movie in the country. Haters get the gasface!

“Kick-Ass” made $19.8 million over the weekend.  That’s a decent haul, but not quite enough to overtake “How to Train Your Dragon”.  And that movie’s been out for a MONTH.  Movie goers also fronted big time on Death at a Funeral. It was pretty damn funny
