Kid Cudi landed a role in the upcoming HBO series “How To Make It In America.” This show is a scripted comedy created by Mark Wahlberg that will follow three 20-something New Yorkers as they pursue the American Dream.

Kid Cudi says that his character, Domingo Dean, is a hopeless romantic who’s also a player. He named the character after his two brothers, Dean and Domingo.

Cudi says he was adamant about not playing someone like himself. “It was important to me early on to branch away from music and actually do something outside my comfort zone,” Kid Cudi told the New York Observer. “When we were developing my character with the writers, I was telling them, ‘Man, I don’t want to be anything that has to do with music,’ just because that’s not really acting.”
