MICHAEL JACKSON’S father, JOE JACKSON, held a press conference yesterday to discuss various Michael-related issues. Oh, and also to pimp his new record label.

Seriously . . . he tossed in a plug.

He said, quote, “I was asked a question last night about the record company. Well, what I’m doin’ is I established a record company.We have a lot of good artists we’re fixing to come out.”

Joe also talked about he and his wife KATHERINE wanting permanent custody of Michael’s kids. He said, quote, “We’re the parents. This is where they belong.We’re going to take care of them and give them the education they’re supposed to have.”

Asked about DEBBIE ROWE, he said, quote, “Debbie Rowe has nothing to do with what we’re doing.”

Joe said the family isn’t ready to announce memorial or funeral plans for Michael.He added, quote, “We’re searching to see what happened to Michael.

“I want to see how this autopsy is coming out, the second autopsy.I’m expecting to hear about it real soon.”

One thing he COULD say on that front, however, is that there are NO plans to bury Michael at the Neverland Ranch.He said, quote, “That’s not true.”

Joe also expressed sadness that Michael couldn’t be there to see how much love he’s been getting from around the world since his death.

He said, quote, “The family and I are very proud to see all of you come out here and help us with this whole situation.I wish Michael could be here to see all this.

“Michael was a superstar.He was loved in every country and the U.S, but one thing Michael didn’t know,he didn’t know how strong this could be.”

Last month, COOLIO said only a, quote, “IDIOT” would bring drugs to the airport and try to get them through security but on Friday, he pleaded guilty to doing just that.

Coolio agreed to a plea deal in which he pleaded guilty to a felony cocaine possession charge, while two lesser charges misdemeanor battery and possession of a smoking device were dropped.

He’d previously pled NOT GUILTY to all three charges.

Back in March, authorities at Los Angeles International Airport found cocaine and drug paraphernalia in Coolio’s carry-on luggage. He was also accused of trying to stop the search by GRABBING a security screener’s arm.

Coolio will avoid jail time as long as he completes an 18-month rehab program.

It’s unclear when that starts, if it hasn’t already.

He’ll be back in court on September 28th to report on his progress.

Michael Jackson’s sister Janet, took to the stage last night at the BET Awards in Los Angeles and spoke out about the death of her brother, only three days after the announcement that Michael had tragically died after suffering a cardiac arrest.

Janet had to take a bit of time to gather herself before she spoke out to the audience. She said that the entire family wanted to be there but it was far too painful for them, so she was speaking out on their behalf. Janet then thanked everyone for all their love and support.

According to rollingstone.com, after promising the audience that she would keep her speech short, Janet went on to say that Michael will live forever in all of hearts and that they miss him so much. The whole night was filled with tributes to the King of Pop.

Last night’s “BET Awards” may have become a tribute to MICHAEL JACKSON…..

A lot of music retail outlets (anybody remember those???) are running out of his stuff.

The most popular discs are the expanded, remastered version of “Thriller”, “Number Ones” and “The Essential Michael Jackson”.

His tracks and albums are also topping best-seller lists on iTunes and Amazon’s online music store.

Over in the UK on their download singles chart Michael Jackson had 44 songs in the top 200 and hit chart number one with “Man In The Mirror”

Michael will always live on through his music.

AMERICAN FILMWERKZ ANNOUNCES

“SWEET JUSTICE”

Theatrical Release

In Dallas and Houston Texas

Arlington, TX -June 27, 2009 American Filmwerkz is announcing  the official  theatrical release for the  feature film “Sweet Justice”,  starting July 19, 2009 at the  Studio Movie Grill located in Addison Texas.

The five day run will include three theaters in the metroplex area and two in the Houston Areas. Theatre doors will open at 6:30pm, Showtime is at 7:00pm, and shortly after the film there will be a one on one forum with the production team, cast and crew.

“Sweet Justice” is a unique film due to the content dealing with the Child Support System in Texas.  The film was directed by Arthur Muhammad (Sweet Chariot Productions) and written and produced by Kelly Gray and Teiah Bennett (Mahogany Films).

The local team was able to pull together a crew and cast for a 14 day shoot two weeks before Christmas 2008 working on a shoestring budget.

The film follows four women working as child support case workers by day and undercover collectors at night, tracking down deadbeat parents and making them pay up by any means necessary.

“With a story like this we couldn’t slack on the cast we wanted to reach out to all ethnicities because child support is not just an urban or lower class issue”, comments Producer Kelly Gray.

The cast includes Reagan Gomez-Preston from the WB Comedy the Parent Hood, Rap-A-Lot recording artist ZRO,  The Rickey Smiley Morning show personality Headkrack, Cheaters show host Joey Greco,KRNB’s Ms. Tammy Thomas and Tim Walton from Friday Night Lights.

“Sweet Justice” is already creating a buzz and sparking a movement. The Houston based Black Broadcasting Network has approached American Filmwerkz about a weekly episode for their network launch this summer.  “There are so many stories we wanted to tell and the series will allow us to do that.

As a filmmaker “Sweet Justice” was not only a great story concept but a tool to display the quality filmmaking  and production talent we have here in Texas”, commented Director Arthur Muhammad.

“Transformers:Revenge of the Fallen” took in an INSANE $60.6 MILLION on its first day in theaters. That’s easily a new record for a Wednesday opening.

“Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” set the previous record back in 2007, with $44.2 million.

It’s also the second largest single-day box office EVER, behind only “The Dark Knight”, which opened on a Thursday at midnight with $67.2 million.

Estimates have “Transformers” taking in somewhere between $150 million and $170 million by Sunday . . . which means it also has a pretty good shot at beating the current FIVE-DAY record of $152.4 million set by “Spider-Man 2″ in 2004.

Just for comparison, here are the top five best opening days of all time . . .
