It’s been a minute but Missy finally hitting the streets with some vintage Missy rah rah shit. We likey.
I recently got a chance to interview the dope duo of Johnny Venus and Doctur Dot who are collectively known as “Earthgang”. I ride for these cats. They make honest music and it’s sonically unique and progressive with just enough edge to keep the streets engaged. Check the interview and purchase the album here.
The trailer for Spike Lee’s highly anticipated film “Chiraq dropped yesterday and the interet wanted blood! Was it because Nick Cannon had a gun? Was it because it wasn’t a dark gritty tail in the spirit of Menace and Boyz in the Hood? Or maybe it’s just because people forgot what Spike Lee does? The man makes art on his terms. I can almost bet when this movie drops, the same people who were hating on the trailer will give it props.
Headkrack’s Hip Hop Spot: Colonel Loud & Ricco Barrino Talk Getting High & Inspiration Behind “California”
Headkrack’s Hip Hop Spot: Young Dro (Discusses celeb Menage a Trois, Troubles with The Law and More)
Young Dro is a very interesting cat. The southern Polo enthusiast came by the Rickey Smiley Morning Show to talk about his recent run-ins with the law, his break up with Fantasia, his first rap name and the now infamous Drake “Pissgate”. This cats a live one.
In my travels I come across hundreds of “rappers” but every now and then I come across an “artist”. The cool thing is I got a chance to see this guy evolve from a quiet voice at the open mics to a dude who is actually crafting some dope music. Check out the homie Kool Quise.
It is so dope to see cats at the cusp of that “moment”. Unless you just got out of jail you probably know that Star Wars: The Force Awakens drops Dec. 18th. The new trailer shut down movie websites and has been streamed a gazillion times at this point. One view came from the actor who will bring the character of Finn to life. John Boyega. This is some of the most genuine shit I’ve seen in a minute. Many moons ago I interviewed John when he was promoting “Attack the Block”. I was wired on coffee and all over the place so pardon my energy.
This interview finds Rick Ross in one of the happiest spaces I’ve ever seen him in. He cam by to kick game on his Fiance, the proper way to enjoy a chicken ‘flat”, going to get weed and RedMan and a incredible karaoke and freestyle session at the end. Check it out.
