This song is entitled “U Need 2 Stop ” and it is the very first single off of the ATW compilation album entitled “The Classic Future”. Cop it on Itunes! itunes.apple.com/us/album/u-need-…t-./id1078046050
St. Basil, Headkrack and Mr Mecc are the first 3 ATW label emcee’s up to bat and they have set the bar extremely high for the ATW label as a whole with their witty lines and clever jabs at the Hip Hop of now.
Everything from the drums, to the cuts sound like it should have been released in the mid 90’s. “U Need 2 Stop” is the first track and it is fashioned after the one and only DJ Muggs and the people Muggs influenced once he captured “his sound.”
The quotables from the song alone will have listeners laughing for days. The dope wordplay from each spitter and the head nod inducing track brings that something special back to the genera.
This new album will be the first release from DJ Revolution’s new label called ATW Recordings under the Sony Music Group umbrella.
Showing respect to the 90’s era legends by showcasing Revolution’s appreciation of their contributions to the genera and culture was important to Rev. While creating his own twist on classic ideas and then lacing each individual track with some of today’s most fiercely talented new and undiscovered artists, he was able to achieve his vision. By pairing their voices with Rev’s original music, he has managed to both pay tribute and bring something new and refreshing at the same time!
To put it simply…the song is vintage beat meets 2016 spitter! And Rev could not be more pleased with the outcome!
In a moment of pure transperency, I am not the biggest fan of Young Thug’s music. What I am a fan of is his grind and work ethic. He’s actually a pretty cool dude in person too. My hardcore hip hop fans will be like “whatever” but check the interview. This is a dude who is really into his craft and hustle. You can’t be mad at that. Oh yeah, Lyor Cohen is in the building too. OG business moves in full effect.
New cats, legends, I talk to them all. Kangol is one of the coolest dudes I’ve met in this business. We talk the golden era, getting hip hop’s first endorsement and even get a freestyle from his son T-Shaun. Check it out.
This is my first time interviewing T Lanez & I’m now officially a fan of dude. I think 2016 is going to be a pretty solid year the homie. Peep the interview and check out the #SmashMarry Taze session near the end.
