“The Wolfman” (R)

–This remake of the 1941 horror classic stars the already-hairy Benicio Del Toro as the guy who gets bitten by a werewolf and then transforms into one himself during the next full moon.

–The original starred Lon Chaney Jr. as the wolfman, “The Invisible Man’s” Claude Rainsas his father, and “Dracula’s” Bela Legosi as the werewolf that bites Chaney.

–In the remake, Anthony Hopkins plays the father, Emily Blunt is Benicio’s love-interest, and Hugo Weaving from “The Matrix” and “Lord of the Rings” is a Scotland Yard inspector investigating the creature’s murders.

–Some critics are saying the movie isn’t as scary as they expected, but at least the special effects for the werewolf transformation are top-notch.

Gene Simmons and David Lee Roth both contributed howls for the sound effects, but according to the director, their voices were digitally blended with animal impersonators and the howls of real animals, so you won’t be able to recognize their voices.
