“The Hangover Part 2” merked the competition during the Memorial Day weekend, pulling in $137 million in its first five days of release.  It’s the best opening EVER for an R-rated movie. 

–Overall, it was the best Memorial Day weekend box office of all time.  Added up, Americans spent $280 million at the box office this weekend . . . beating the 2007 Friday-through-Monday record of $255 million. 

–Here are this week’s Top 10 movies . . .

1.)  (NEW)  “The Hangover Part 2”, $106 million.  Up to $137 million since Thursday.

2.)  (NEW)  “Kung Fu Panda 2”, $62.2 million.  Up to $68 million since Thursday.

3.)  “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides”, $50.4 million.  Up to $164 million in its 2nd week.

4.)  “Bridesmaids”, $21 million.  Up to $89.6 million in its 3rd week.

5.)  “Thor”, $12 million.  Up to $162 million in its 4th week.

6.)  “Fast Five”, $8.2 million.  Up to $198 million in its 5th week.

7.)  Woody Allen’s “Midnight In Paris”, $3.5 million.  Up to $3.52 million in its second week of limited release.  It stars Owen Wilson and Rachel McAdams.

8.)  “Rio”, $2.4 million.  Up to $135 million in its 7th week.

9.)  “Jumping the Broom”, $2.4 million.  Up to $34.6 million in its 4th week.  

10.)  “Something Borrowed”, $2.3 million.  Up to $35.2 million in its 4th week.
